Slut

The Ethical Slut sought to take this word overflowing with negative baggage and claim it for positive. Why is it though, that people generally assume that the freedom to choose means always saying “yes”?

I see this a form of the Slippery Slope Argument. The only difference between a simple form of polyamory and serial monoamory is that times in relationships overlap and there is no intrinsic pressure to end relationships.

Polyamory is no easy ticket to lots of sexual partners. You have all this stuff in the way, like “communication” and “dealing with your own shit”. If all you want is lots of sex, there are much easier and more reliable ways to get it… cheating, serial monoamory, swinging and prostitutes but to name a few. It’s only a shame that polyamory has been smeared by some high-profile individuals as an excuse for their cheating ways.

In the end though, is promiscuity really a bad thing? Why is it considered bad or shameful to have a high sexual drive and to express it? We are well past the age where such behavior would leave unwanted children begging on the streets or people carrying untold number of unpleasant diseases. For most people, sex is desirable and very enjoyable. Done responsibly and ethically, I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. So, I cheer on all ethical sluts to stand proud and shout out, “I enjoy sex!”
